Awesome AF! So, for the last few years I have been using my air fryer to dehydrate some of the foods I enjoy. My air fryer is a multitasker. The food dehydration feature was one of my favs, but could only do a small amount at one time. Fast forward to a couple of years later. I saw Josh W. on YouTube using this credible space saving dehydrator. I was sold instantly, but was not in a position to afford it at the time. I get this email about a Black Friday sale with the free carrying case. I said what hell, go for it. So glad I did. I can dehydrate so much at one time instead of doing it in tiny batches. Sahara Folding Dehydrator (Stainless Steel Shelves) I was sure if I really needed this in my life but I made dough for dog biscuits and baked them. After 10 days they started to mold. I took the remaining dough out of the freezer and then put them on the silicone mats and dehydrated them. After 6 hours I then took them off the mats and put them back in for another 3 or 4 hours and they haven’t had the same problem as the baking ones did. My dog loves them and I’m going to make a few of the recipes on this site for her.

Excellent 10/10 I love my dehydrator! So far I’ve just made apple chips, and they are my favorite snack right now. My friends love them too! So much better than store bought. My only complaint is that the silicone mats (regular) don’t fit the shelves edge-to-edge; however, they DO fit a regular 1/2 sheet tray, so I guess it works out.

Still not sure about it I bought this in May, and decided on this over the Excalibur because I liked the idea of stainless steel trays and the nicely sealing glass doors (and sure, it’s neat that it folds up but I’ve not folded it up yet because I use it a lot). I’ve dried a lot of average-sized (not huge) cherry tomatoes, cut in half, not touching each other, and while the directions say 135 degrees for 8-10 hours mine were still very much wet at that point. I’ve found the only way to get them dry is 140 degrees for 16-18 hours (depending on how humid it is). Now I’m questioning if I made the right choice, or maybe something is just wrong with my unit.

Works Perfectly! We bought this primarily to help us deal with all of the fruit we are growing at our new house. The silicone mats were an absolute necessity for drying the blueberries, and they cleaned up easily by hand. Setting the mats aside, I went with the plain metal rack for our pears. In both cases we got excellent dehydrated fruit and berries.

So far not good The dehydrator was damaged in shipping. The packaging could not stand up to the rigours of shipping nor could the dehydrator. It had pressure cracks in the thin plastic frame, which mirrored the damage on the box. A new one is being shipped to me now and IÕve been sent a tracking number but have no information as to the carrier. Is it UPS or Canada Post?

Amazing I really like the idea of a folding dehydrator because of the space-saving aspect but I was apprehensive about the sturdiness of the build. My doubts were quickly changed when I discovered how well-engineered and solid the unit is. Eleven square feet of stainless racks, filtered air intake, and sophisticated 2 stage time/temp controls are just the beginning. This is a thing of beauty. I’d recommend getting the optional carrying case, it, too is extremely high quality.

Not the best cook here and I didn’t have a clue why I wanted it, but eventually I was worn down by the pretty pictures. When it arrived, we started making as many different things as possible and learning our lessons along the way. Use a silicone mat for strawberries. Small sticky stuff leaves a residue on the metal shelves that is harder to clean than the mat. My first try at a fruit leather (roll up) was not pretty but it was delicious. It was more fun than most stuff in the kitchen because it’s so easy. Not a lot of prep – just slice. It’s very very quiet, shuts off automatically, and you don’t have to stand over it. Bananas, beef jerky, mango, limes, apples, One batch did get a mold right away so I put the little silicone packets in each jar to keep the chips dry…frig or freezer is best if not eaten right away. Love it. I recommend it.

I like it a lot I’ve only used the dehydrator twice, so I can’t speak to its longevity. However, I am very happy with it so far. I got it primarily because vegetables are inevitably packaged in quantities that I can’t use, but I don’t want to waste. 1. It’s very easy to set up and take down. The racks all fit in their nice case. I live in a small house, so it was important to me that it didn’t take up space when not in use.2. The wire racks and silicon mats are easy to clean.
3. I’ve dehydrated carrots, parsnips, and mushrooms. First thing I learned: drying times give a range. Here in Memphis, where it is very humid, I need to use the longest time. This works just fine. I put the dehydrator on my washing machine, the vegetables dry overnight.
4. The dried vegetables are delicious. And it gives me the opportunity to preserve vegetables from a farmers’ market — types of veg I can’t get commercially.
5. I found a website called The Backpacking Chef which has great info on drying vegetables and then cooking with them.

SLICK! LOVE IT! Not only is the Sahara dehydrator efficient and large capacity, it is a really slick design. Every time I use it I am impressed all over again. It’s perfect for my situation (tiny, poorly designed kitchen) because it easily folds down for storage. I got the carrying case for it and for the shelves as well and everything fits together, so I don’t have to go hunting for where I might have put parts of it. It is also ‘stupid simple’ to unfold and operate. Kudos to the designers of this excellent product! Their customer service is awesome too; they took care of my mistake in ordering as well as gave me the sale price that happened the day after I bought my unit. I am recommending this dehydrator to everyone!

Awesome This works like a charm! There is so much space for food that I can’t seem to fill it all! The folding action is very easy and pretty smooth. It’s compact enough to find a home in my kitchen, though it is large. I’ve dried nuts and fruit so far and it works very well. I’d highly recommend buying a few of the silicone mats as well to make this more versatile. I want to dry some meat but haven’t been able to yet! The settings are really straight forward. This does not have a light but I figured you’d have to use a second light source anyway because the food would block any light on the inside anyway. So that doesn’t bother me at all. Great purchase. It all feels high quality. The power plug coming out of the left side is a little strange though it works in my situation. But I can see how that could be really inconvenient if my outlet was on the other side of the machine in my kitchen. They could have put that in the back. But I have no complaints!

In love with my new Dehydrator Came beautifully packaged very quickly. I no longer have to come back to a batch of food burned up and ruined w/ over timing and overheating. I have NO fear any longer of fire caused by other cheap dehydrators. I read all reviews prior to buying. I disagree with some very much. I got the stainless shelves and don’t find them to be flimsy at all. I don’t think the knobs are too small. If they were bigger it wouldn’t fold up right anyway. I find it quiet enough that while listening to something else like U-tube I have to lean over to see if light is on with it running, and can barely hear it other times. They tell you not to put anything on top, so if you do the doors don’t want to shut correctly, so I do wish they made the top a bit stronger so you could put stuff on top when working. I’ve already dehydrated everything from fruits to meats, and veggies. So great to throw a handful into a dish. Best investment I’ve made in forever. I should add that I think it best to buy directly from the Company itself, being a better deal for everyone involved. About to do a bag of Potatoes that would otherwise go to waste. I should also add that my refrigerator/freezer broke and I had a lot of spoilage. I can save food for a very long time in a Prep situation with this so it makes me feel more food secure. Also in some horrible situation I can pack this up in a bag and take it with me. I highly recommend buying and when I save up enough may get another.

Overall, we are pleased with this dehydrator. After several times, setting and folding it up is easy, and doesn’t take up as much space as some other dehydrators. We’ve used it so far in drying for teas and fruit leather, and it’s worked out great! We bought it with only one silicon mat, and honestly, we wish we bought a couple more.

great dehydrator This dehydrator is really amazing – the engineering is remarkable, allowing it to quickly fold into an easy-to-store size and the dehydrator works really well, with easy-to-use controls. I had considered other brands of dehydrators until I found this one and IÕm very happy with it. The Brod & Taylor website has lots of recipes – some are a bit vague on the amount of time/temp settings, but it is fairly easy to figure out how much time is needed for various things. I highly recommend this dehydrator!

So far its been a really amazing unit considering the ease of use and quality parts. Glass doors and stainless steel racks, but for the price I would expect to have gotten at least one Silicone drying Mat. Also, as mentioned by others Led Lights are needed which could maybe be sold separately. I may throw a few stickers on it.This is hands down one of the beat dehydrators on the market especially the temperature controls and fan only option!

I’m enjoying the dehydrator very simple to put together and get working. Only changes that would be great if the plug was placed in the rear not on the side and maybe a small light for the interior so you can see the racks without taking them out.

Worth the money
Seems well constructed. Ran two times already. Fruit leather and whole fruit came out great. Next day fit about 6 pounds of jerky on all but one tray. If cut a little thicker you could probably fit about 8 pounds. Functionality is easy to learn.
Only negative in my opinion so far is the design of the drip tray allows for anything close to the edge of the rack to deep into some hard to clean spots.

First dehydrator we have purchased. Most are so large and need so much storage space when not in use. We really like this one. It is easy to set up and take down. It folds down to a much more convenient size for storing. The zippered storage bag for the shelves is an added bonus. It helps to keep everything together when stored. We did order two Silicone Drying Mats. So helpful for keeping those small herbs on the shelves.

This is the best dehydrator I’ve owned in the last 30 years, and I’ve had many.
The Sahara takes no space to store. Appreciate the case for the racks, etc. And this can all be set up in a snap. Love the temperature control dial and the timer. Works great.
Looking forward to this year in the garden…I plan on dehydrating most everything! Still have try jerky in this.

Great addition
I wanted a quality food dehydrator for a while now, but I did not want to loose counter or storage space. The Sahara solved both those problems. Once I took the Sahara out of the box I sliced up apples and made apple chips for my family. In one day they were gone! Next I made beef jerky and it came out fantastic. I bought this dehydrator because it folds up and I have limited counter space. I’m not mechanically inclined but it is very easy to set up and fold away. It’s really well designed. I also wanted a dehydrator with a filter as I dry yeast (kveik) and having a fan only option was also important. It hardly uses any power on the fan setting. It does make some noise when it’s running but it’s not loud. The customer service is excellent, shipping hours after I ordered and promptly answering questions even before I purchased it. Well made and worth the money.

Absolutely enjoy this dehydrator. Once set up it’s very easy to use. The glass doors are sturdy, easy to open and stay closed. I’ve been using it for a couple of months 3-4 times a week.
